{(((Aghast)))}

Aghast/Norwegian/German necro✠glossolalist consisting of two witches performing black magick in the guise of exceptional ritual dark ambient that is strangely original, and yet, derivative of both Moëvöt's macabre vocalizations from „Abgzvoryathre", and the howling shrieks found on Diamanda Galas' avantgarde classic: „The Litanies of Satan". Other obvious influences are from the eclectic English mavericks: Death in June, Coil and Current 93. Also noticeable is the dour atmosphere, minimalism, and droning undercurrents so prevalently used by German Expressionist and auteurs like Peter Frohmader , viz. His three Nekropolis' masterpieces: „Musik Aus Dem Schattenreich", „Nekropolis 2", and „Cultes Des Goules". Interestingly, the confrontational aesthetic of American experimental artist, Jonathan Briley and John Duncan are a puissant inspiration for the more obtrusive spirits that dwell in the haunting compositions of Nachtexe and Nebelhexë {((( l ɐ n ╈ ı ɹ ʞ ɔ ɐ l q )))} Recorded using a dead man's microphone! ✠ source: http://www.coldmeat.se

Aghast was a two-witches (Nebelhexë and Nachtexe) and one album (“Hexerei Im Zwielichet Der Finsternis”) project, which despite receiving good reviews was not enough to keep the band alive. His music is essentially atmospheric, terrifying, minimalist, based on synthesizers and pianos with very discrete drums input. As a curiosity, Nebelhexë was married to Samoth from Emperor and Natchexe with Fenriz of Darkthrone. Also curious is to note that the voices in their only released album were recorded with a mic that belonged to Dead of Mayhem.
After splitting up Andrea, who has also sung in some Cradle Of Filth album, entered her folk era with Hagalaz ‘Runedance, comprising from 1996 to 2002 and releasing three albums. In this period she published her first book “The Ancient Fires of Midgard”, which brings us to the ancient Germanic religion and teaches us how to use and interpret the magic runes.
Since 2004, Andrea went into darkwave gothic music under the name of Nebelhexë.

Aghast was a dark ambient project by Nebelhexë aka Andréa Nebel and Nacht aka Tania Stene. They released one album in 1994 on Cold Meat Industry "Hexerei Im Zwielicht Der Finsternis". This obscure, ghostly and semi-Satanic album made quite an impact at the time. Aghast created haunting, howling and sinister sounds, that managed to freak out even experienced horror movie fans and even Hollywood actors, such as Megan Fox, who reported that the music made them turn on the light and look under the bed. Naturally, this album impressed the extreme music scene, where it reached cult status. Due to Andrea's involvement in the film industry, Aghast's music was used several times in subcultural Horror films such as the Sci-Fi movie Regression, the horror film The Specter, and the horror film Sinister by Hollywood director Scott Derrickson (The Exorcism of Emily Rose) with actor Ethan Hawke.

Andréa Nebel has a new project called Aghast Manor were she creates dark soundtracks once again. Yet she makes it clear that Aghast Manor is a new project, not a revival of the old band.
