God Bullies [Special]

God Bullies [Special]

God Bullies were an American Noise-Rock band from Kalamazoo, Michigan. They were active from 1986-1995.The band had been on a handful of record labels but the majority of their material was released on Amphetamine Reptile Records.God Bullies never found any mainstream success but they did have quite a large cult following. They had toured with The Melvins, Helmet, Tar, Surgery, Cows, Helio's Creed, and many more.

--- xXx ---

The very name strikes fear into the hearts of penitent types everywhere. Hailing from Kalamazoo, Michigan, home of the state's largest mental facility and some particularly noxious ground water contamination (both coincidences, we are assured). Midwestern weirdness from the region that invented the name. God Bullies

Formed in 1986, the original line-up recorded 2 albums and 2 singles before attrition and lack of endurance claimed the lives of bassist Mike Corso and drummer Adam Berg. Berg was replaced with ex-Cows drummer Tony Oliveri and Corso with Eric Polcyn, creating a now-even-more-nightmarish-and-ferocious unit, ultimately coming to fruition on 1990's acclaimed double single, Join Satan's Army. War on Everybody, an aural autopsy of the world as we know it, and the band's third album followed closely.

Fronted by the uh, "charismatic" singer/psychopath Mike Hard, have established themselves as one of the most popular live bands on the club circuit, especially in their native Midwest, where faith in a higher power seems to ebb and flow with their coming and going. Shifting from former label AmRep to the West Coast's Alternative Tentacles, released album number 4, Kill the King, another dark and churning release, but not without a touch of humor. This album will reach out and lift you into a state of ecstasy, then crush all hope like some ripe grape under an extremely heavy object. Simply that.

God Bullies suffered an untimely demise a few years back (nothing to do with the Religious Right, or so we're told). Mike Hard and friends went on to form Thrall.Thrall laid low for awhile, but they came back in to full swing in 2000 and will be releasing a new album before summer 2001!
